2016 Science Council Meeting Round Up

The LTER Science Council met May 16-19, 2016 in Santa Barbara, CA at NCEAS, the location of the LTER Network Communications Office. Sadly, the "field trip" to the Moorea Coral Reef Site had to be virtual, but attendees had the opportunity to get a taste of the site and research underway there through slide shows, imagery and an in-depth talk by the Moorea site PIs. Participants also got to meet the NCO and NCEAS staff and sample Santa Barbara's history, culture, and hospitality. 

2016 Science Council hosted by Moorea Coral Reef LTER

The Moorea Coral Reef  and the LTER Network Communications Office (LTER-NCO) look forward to hosting the 2016 LTER Science Council meeting at NCEAS in Santa Barbara, CA. While we can't transport you to the Gump Lab, we're doing our best to turn the meeting location into a tropical paradise.

North Temperate Lakes LTER publishes first PASTA data set in Nature's Scientific Data

We are pleased to announce the first ever publication in Nature's Scientific Data resource with a PASTA data package DOI (doi:10.6073/pasta/379a6cebee50119df2575c469aba19c5). A global database of lake surface temperatures collected by in situ and satellite methods from 1985–2009 by Sapna Sharma, et al. (2015) was published and featured this week at Scientific Data.

A Successful LTER All Scientists Meeting

From all comments received by the LTER Network Office, this year's
meeting in Estes Park was a complete success!
The 2015 LTER All Scientists Meeting was held from August 30 through the
evening of September 2. The Conference was organized around the theme: "
From Long-Term Data to Understanding: Toward a Predictive Ecology".  
Almost 600 people attended the meeting.  There were over 300 poster
presentations and more than 75 formal and ad-hoc working group
